Bavarian Chamber of Architects (ByAK)

Bavarian Chamber of Architects (ByAK)

German version

The Bavarian Chamber of Architects is a public corporation taking over governmental tasks. However, the ByAK is not an authority but a self-governing statutory body for the profession of architects.

As such, the ByAK is the first point-of-contact for more than 21,000 architects, interior designers, landscape architects, and town planners in the Land of Bavaria. Within the context of its mandatory regulations, the ByAK oversees official lists and informs federal authorities. Further, it cooperates with private and commercial clients on a wide range of issues, sharing information on architecture, building culture and all planning and building-related requirements.

Above all, the task of the chamber is to protect and influence the profession, to enhance the appreciation of architects, to promote the highest standards within the profession, and to give guidance to architects on how to provide a high quality of architectural services.

Rights and duties of the members are protected by the rules and regulations of the ByAK so as to ensure effective cooperation between the members of the profession of architects and third parties in this context.
